Updates

Marginal updates itself, but only when you say so.

With Settings ▸ General ▸ Updates ▸ Check for updates at launch on, as it is by default, Marginal looks for a new version a few seconds after it starts. If there is one, the update dialog opens with the release notes, and an Update to … chip appears in the status bar. Not Now closes the dialog; the chip stays, and clicking it brings the dialog back. Nothing is downloaded at this point, and a failed check says nothing at all.

Check for Updates… in the app menu looks any time. It reports either You’re up to date or the new version with its release notes.

Click the status bar chip or Install Update in the dialog. The update downloads with a progress bar, installs, and then asks you to Restart Now or Later. Keep the app open until the download finishes.

Every update is signed, and the signature is verified before anything is applied, on all platforms.
